About
This site is maintained by Cilfa Rijsdijk-Nieraad and Frederique Rijsdijk, humble human can-openers belonging to the Lockheed-clan.
When she was a very cute little kitten Lockheed acquired Cilfa as a human and taught her the Ways of the Cat-servants. Lockheed had her human all for herself, and was a proud owner of an appartment in Amsterdam.
Unfortunately, the human had to move to a different part of the country and even worse: was very much charmed by her new housemate: Frederique. So Lockheed decided to take matters in her own paws and go out and get pregnant.
This proved to be a mistake. The Humans were so enamored by the 5 little critters that resulted from that pregnancy, they decided to keep two of them: the gorgeous dark Widget and the even-cuter-than-lockheed Bamf. This meant less petting for Lockheed, who then got a serious case of post-natal depression.
Bamf and Widget thrived and grew into beautiful cats. Widget always wanted to know what was beyond the horizon, Bamf was more comfortable staying close to her Humans.
The clan got the Humans to build them all kind of devices, but this wasn’t enough for Widget, who kept some other part-time Humans on the side.
One fatefull winter Widget went on one of her long round through the country and broke her hip. She had no means of telling her Humans she was hurt and couldn’t come home, so they were in great distress over her disappearence. After two full months Widget had improved enough to return home where she was greeted by here overwrought Humans. Widget’s beautiful fluggy tail couldn’t move, she could hardly walk, was half starved and had a high fever. The silly Human-with-the-latex-gloves-and-stinging-thingies told Widgets Humans that the tail probably had to be amputated. Widget didn’t think that a good idea and started excercising the painful tail. When she could move it again, everybody was very happy and the vet was kept at bay.
Off course Widget hadn’t learned anything from this and The Outside was even more enticing than before. So Widget went out and eventually disappeared again, this time not to return.
Since Widget couldn’t have kittens after her accident, Bamf was the one to continue the clan. She got pregnant and had a large litter of five kittens, among which was Kedua.
Frederique always wanted a big red cat, so Kedua chose to stay with the Humans and grow to be just that.
He is studying to be just that: a very sweet, groovy, fat, sloppy cat. Lockheed suspects Bamf from having had a secret fling with the neighbour dog, because Kedua is clearly not 100% cat.
Another tragic episode followed when Bamf got ill and her humans couldn’t cure her, even though they took her to a specialised hospital and even gave her several blood transfusions with Kedua’s blood. Bamf had leukemia, and died on a very sad morning, june 19th 2005, while her Humans tried to get her to the vet in time.
Bamf ashes were scattered in the most fantastic lagoon in Sri Lanka, on her Human’s honeymoon a year later. She still hunts there for crabs and clicks at the exotic bird and actually has a very good time in this always sunny paradise.
Lockheed thought it time to move again and got the Humans a nice big house. Since there were only two of the clan left (one for each Human), Lockheed decided to have a nice shot of hormones and be cured of her depression. She promptly became the most lively playfull granny her humans had ever seen.
Maybe she will allow a new Outside cat into the clan, her Humans certainly hope so, but for now she is content to have them almost all to herself.
Lockheed and Kedua want to show you this nice selection of all the pictures the Humans made over the years.
Update 2008-06-30: A very posh pedigree Neva Masquerade (Siberian) cat called Illyana heard of our happy family. Since she always wanted to be a model and wanted very dedicated canopeners, she decided to come and live with us.
